Prospective Students


We are continuously looking for motivated and passionate students who are interested working on projects related to unmanned aerial vehicles, aircraft design and experimental fluid mechanics.

People in our group come from different backgrounds including engineering science, mechanical and aerospace engineering. For an overview of the projects that we are working, please visit our research page and have a look at some of our publications. Projects can range from theory/mathematics-focused to experimental and hands-on.

We are particularly looking for students with one or more of the following skills: strong background in mathematics, aerodynamics, aircraft stability and control, experience in wind tunnel and flow visualization testing.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students looking for thesis or summer research opportunities should contact Dr. Kanistras directly and include the following information in their email: CV, transcripts, and a short write-up on other relevant experience. Please also indicate which projects your are particularly interested in and why.

Graduate Students

If you are interested in joining our group, you should follow the standard application procedure for graduate studies at UAH. Incoming graduate students are highly encouraged to apply for external fellowships.

Exchange Students

We regularly have exchange students from other universities join our group for 6- to 12-month research stays; for example, European students who want to do their Masters thesis abroad. If you are interested, please contact Dr. Kanistras directly and include the following information in your email: CV, transcripts, and a short write-up on other relevant experience.
